Demonstration & Talk with Alex DeGrassi and Fred Carlson
Thursday, October 20, 2016
Complimentary wine from Weibel Family Vineyards & Winery and snacks courtesy of the Junior Women’s Group are available every 1st & 3rd Thursday evening, when the Museum is open until 9:00 p.m. Refreshments are served beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7:00 p.m. These special evenings vary each month to include live music, special guests and more.
The Haggin is delighted to welcome a guitar master and a master guitar maker. This evening of conversation, music and demonstrations will feature an array of extraordinary instruments hand built by Carlson in his Santa Cruz studio. Grammy nominee and international recording star, performer, composer and teacher DeGrassi is best known for virtuoso fingerstyle guitar and as an innovator in all things acoustic. He's known for his long time collaboration with Will Ackerman of Windham Hill Records and just recently released a solo recording “Now and Then” featuring a contemporary take on traditional folksongs. Luthier and musician Carlson actively evolves the field of guitar making with his deeply resonant and playful instruments like the “Sympitar” and “Humanitar.”
