High on the headlands above the Golden Gate, stands the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.  The Legion of Honor will be hosting Monet: The Early Years in 2017.

Monet: The Early Years  will be the first major US exhibition devoted to the initial phase of Claude Monet’s career which spanned 1840 – 1926.  Through approximately sixty paintings, the exhibition illustrates his unique style, which utilized painting textures and interplay of light, developed during the years 1858 to 1872.

This exhibition is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Monet’s mastery before Impressionism.  The collection is a selection of works gathered from some of the most important international collections – the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and other public and private collections.
For lunch or refreshments, there is the Legion of Honor Café.  Or you may brown-bag a lunch.  Additionally, there is a wonderful gift shop.  **Sign up early**
