Museum Store Guest: Mosaic Artist Kristi Halva
The Museum Store welcomes mosaic artist Kristi Halva on Thursday, September 18, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Halva has been involved with the arts since high school, as a student of Bill Pugh at Lincoln High School. She studied under the direction of Laurel True, a well-known mosaic artist at the Institute of Mosaic Arts in Oakland.
Her most recent study has been in the architectural application of mosaic artwork. Halva’s favorite part of working with stained glass in the mosaic application is observing all the colors and textures of the glass. She feels that every piece is a discovery as the glass reflects the light. When a completed project is grouted, it seems the different views of nature come right off the board.
She has also shown her work with the Stockton Art League.
