Director Peter Jaffe previews the Stockton Symphony’s 90th anniversary season—putting the spotlight on orchestral masterpieces remarkable for innovative form and design, haunting melodies and harmonies, driving rhythms, lush textures, and brilliant colors. Maestro Jaffe will incorporate musical examples into the hour’s talk, playing scores at the piano and illuminating inspired masterstrokes from Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Beethoven’s Ninth, Rimsky Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, and more. Post-talk questions are welcome and are an engaging portion of this Haggin tradition.
