Artist Talk with Jonas Kulikauskas

September 1, 2022 7 pm - September 1 2022, 8 pm

Jonas Kulikauskas will present his long-term photographic project that celebrates the people and communities at Yosemite National Park. Insights on native cultures, traditions preserved, and environmental impact will be discussed in a slideshow presentation with a Q&A session.

“For the first time, a photographer is entering Yosemite as the WPA documentary photographers of the 1930s might, with a shifted priority on people rather than on nature.”
–Carol McCusker, PhD
Curator of Photography, Harn Museum of Art

While a faculty member at ArtCenter College of Design, Kulikauskas received the Samsung Faculty Enrichment Grant for this project. The Yosemite People book took 1st place in the People category at the prestigious International Photography Awards in 2017, and in 2019, 33 images from Yosemite People were accessioned into the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
