Self-transporting Trip - Celebrate Cambodian New Year in Stockton!

Friday, April 11, 2025 | 12:30 – 3 PM
Cost: $ 15

Celebrate San Joaquin County diversity by joining Haggin Museum’s Department of Museum Travel on a self-transporting tour of the 2025 Cambodian New Year Festival at Wat Dhammararam Buddhist Temple, located at 3732 Carpenter Road in east Stockton. Our tour is on the first day of the four-day festival. After parking on-site, meet our group at the temple for a guided tour of the temple building. We are to be joined by members of Battambang/Stockton Sister City. Then proceed outdoors to enjoy learning about more than 90 jewel-encrusted, colorful and larger-than-life statues celebrating the life and story of the Buddha. Marvel at the magnificent centerpiece, a 50-foot reclining Buddha. After the tour you are on your own until closing time at 6:30 pm to soak up the sights, sounds and smells of this annual festival that attracts festival goers from around the country. Savor the flavors of authentic Cambodian cuisine provided by vendors. Experience the richness of Cambodian culture and its traditions. Shop for gifts of clothing, religious items and souvenirs. View and participate in dancing and cultural practices at this family-friendly event. Put on your walking shoes and join us as we are transported to another world without traveling outside of Stockton!
