Attention history buffs, foodies and garden enthusiasts!

This day trip by motor coach is for you! On a docent-led tour of Old Town Auburn, experience California’s Gold Rush history. At the Placer County Courthouse, a beautiful landmark building built in 1898 that houses the Placer County Museum, learn from your docent about the colorful history of Placer County from early Native American life through the construction of I-80. See the restored Sheriff’s Office and Women’s Jail, and the Treasury displaying the museum’s gold collection.

Next, “Choice on Tour!” Tailor your touring preference by choosing one of two options:

Choice A has one stop: A 2.5-hour visit to High-Hand Nursery in Loomis, featuring a wide selection of beautiful plants and a renovated fruit shed that houses gift shops, olive oil tasting, and a brewery. Dine on your own at High-Hand Café where their sandwiches and salads are crafted with farm-fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

Choice B has two stops: First — a one-hour visit to Ikeda’s California Country Market and Pie Shop, a destination Farmer’s Market off I-80, filled with produce from the family farm, freshly baked fruit pies and a down-home café that serves burgers, sandwiches and Ready to Go Meals. Second — a 1.5-hour visit to High-Hand Nursery and Café in Loomis.
